RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY IN THE EU

The Centre for European Studies (CES), in cooperation with the Constantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy (CKID) and Fondazione Res Publica, organised a conference entitled ‘The Role of the Renewable Energy Industry in the EU’ in Milan.

The conference was opened by Tomi Huhtanen, CES Director, Constantine Arvanitpoulos, Director General of CKID, and Eugenio Belloni, President of Res Publica, with the keynote speech delivered by Sergio Garriba from the Italian Ministry of Energy.

The first roundtable offered the institutional position on the subject, with panellists Georgios Ayeridis, Director for Energy Efficiency at the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources in Greece, Staffa Jerneck from The Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, Antonio Erias Rey, member of the Spanish Parliament and spokesman on Industry, Commerce and Energy, and Guido Possa, Italian Senator and Chairman of the Committee for University and Research. The institutional position was challenged by the second roundtable, which comprised representatives of the energy industry, consultancies, lobbying companies and the banking sector, and was moderated by Lanfranco Senn, Director of CERTeT at Bocconi University.
